Prof. T.S.Abhiraman was born on 1st July 1883.
He had a humble beginning with initial schooling under a banyan tree and sand as the writing board. Migrating to Madurai he passed Matriculation from Sethupathi High School. He then passed F.A from American College, Pasumalai and joined St. Joseph’s College, Trichy, for his B.A in Physics.
After a short stint as a Tutor in Physics Department, he was admitted in M.A in 1908 in the first batch, passing M.A with distinction in 1910. He was the favorite student of the Principal, Rev. Father Bertram, who later become the founding Principal of Loyola College, Chennai.
He served as the Professor and Head of the Department of Physics, at St. Aloysius College Mangalore between 1911 and 1915 and Subramanya College, Near Colombo, between 1915 and 1917.
Sensing the need for quality Laboratory Equipment and Chemicals, which were then produced in Europe, he went on to establish 5 Scientific Companies.
Starting with Scientific Advance Co., in Chennai in 1922,
Laboratory Supplies Co., in Bengaluru in 1925,
Followed by companies in Trivandrum, Madurai and finally Modern Scientific Co., in Coimbatore, in 1959.
Three of these companies are still run by the third generation descendants.
Prof. T.S. Abhiraman was well educated and proficient in Sanskrit, Tamil, English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Astrology and Astronomy. He was a visionary and dedicated his life to imparting quality education and went on to support scientific education with quality services.
His above accomplishments assume significance since he acquired his enviable academic qualifications due to sheer hard work in very difficult life situations. He left his body on 4th December 1960, but continues to inspire the future generations.

(late) sri a.muthukrishnan, carried on the business from 1960 to 2000. he was instrumental in implementing the lofty ideals and business ethics of the founder, and laid a perfect foundation for the next generation to grow it further. he was pleasant mannered and offered all possible support to clients and competitors alike. he guided many persons to achieve greater heights in their respective careers.
(late) sri m.abhiraman, who was active between 1976 and 2018 was instrumental in establishing business in tiruppur, erode, salem, pollachi and udumalpet areas. he is being remembered by customers in these areas even now, for his hard work inspite of physical disability and also for the genuine and sincere way in which he carried on the business.
M.Nagarajan, who joined business in 1982 is the third generation descendant carrying on the business now. the flame is being carried forward without any change in value systems adopted by the founder, even after six decades. he is well supported by a team of enthusiastic, hard working youngsters handling various responsibilities with passion.
